Here are some of the common questions we get asked:

Do you use digital cameras or traditional film cameras?

We use some of the latest professional digital SLR cameras from Canon. The quality of digital now matches that of traditional film cameras, but with the added advantage of being able to keep a check on the results as your day progresses.

How many photographers attend my event or project?

Normally we supply one photographer for Civil Partnerships. Other projects can be negotiated upon request.

How soon should we book?

We suggest that you book as early as possible, to ensure we have a photographer available to cover your event. Of course, if you wish, we can meet prior to your event for a no obligation discussion of your requirements.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we ask for a booking fee of £50 to be paid in order to secure your booking, with the remaining balance to be paid anytime up to, and including 7 days before your event. This can be paid by bank transfer, cash, debit or credit card or Paypal. We can also accept cheque payments, however, they must be received 14 days before your event to ensure full clearance takes place.

How can we pay?

We normally request an initial deposit by cheque, bank transfer or cash as outlined above. We can accept credit cards, although a small supplemental fee is added due to the additional cost of processing. The remaining balance can then be paid any time up to, and including 7 days prior to your Civil Partnership day.

Cheque payments should be made to 'CH-PHOTO Ltd', and posted to the address we provide through our email communications. Should a cheque fail to clear, and no alternative method of payment is made before your special day, CH-PHOTO reserve the right to withdraw its photography services. In this case, any booking fee paid will be not be refunded.

Debit and Credit card payments will show on your bank statement as 'NOCHEX'. Please note, the statement entry will not make reference to CH-PHOTO Ltd.

We've had to cancel our ceremony, can we have a refund?

If circumstances mean that your 'booked' date has to be cancelled, then get in touch with us to discuss the possible options. Normally our booking fee is non-refundable, as we may have turned away other customers whilst keeping your date committed to you. We can in most circumstances transfer your booking fee to another day, should you re-book your ceremony, subject to us having an available photographer.

What contingency plans do you offer?

In the very unlikely event we experience equipment failure during your event, you can be rest assured that we carry a full back up emergency digital SLR kit to ensure we deliver, even if our primary equipment doesn't! Our vehicles have full and comprehensive breakdown cover, and should the situation be such that the photographer cannot attend on time utilising their own transport, we'll authorise them to use any other transport method necessary to get to you at the earliest opportunity. Once your shoot is complete, and our photographer has returned to base, the images from the cameras memory cards are transferred onto two separate hard disk drives, so that in case of failure, there will always be a backup copy available.

Do you offer black and white or sepia toned photography?

Yes, we can offer final toning of your pictures in any finish you prefer, or any mix. You may very well like a particular photograph in colour, sepia and black and white. You tell us what you want, and we'll deliver. We use one of the latest professional versions of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and can adjust any given image in any way you wish.

What is reportage photography?

Reportage or photojournalism is where the photographer remains in the background capturing the natural atmosphere of your event from beginning to end.  This has the advantage of allowing creativity, recording the magic of your event as it happens, whilst allowing you to spend more time with your guests. You may of course want some formal group shots as well, which we're more than happy to capture for you.

How many photographs do we get?

It really depends on the package that you choose. It will typically vary between 150 to 500 photographs. We specialise in producing great quality images capturing the day.

Who retains copyright of the pictures taken?

CH-PHOTO retains copyright of your images, and with your permission, they will be utilised for marketing purposes. CH-PHOTO permits the sharing of images with family and friends, however images are not permitted to be utilised for commercial gain.

Can we have a particular commercial music track as the backing to our DVD picture shows? (eg Westlife)

Yes, the majority of commercial music is covered by the MCPS-PRS alliance, through which we can apply on your behalf to allow us to include music tracks of your choice. We include the licence fee within our package prices, which allow for upto 5 copies of each DVD to be made. Should you require more than 5 copies, further licences can be obtained at competitive rates. The link on the left gives further details.
